What is CatDrive?+

CatDrive is a carpool platform that connects drivers offering trips with passengers looking for a ride. We are not a transport company — we facilitate connections between individuals.

How does it work?+
  1. A driver posts a ride (origin, destination, date, price, seats available)
  2. A passenger searches for a ride and sends a booking request
  3. The driver accepts or declines the request
  4. Both parties meet at the agreed pickup point
Is CatDrive available 24/7?+

The platform is accessible at any time. Available rides depend on registered drivers and their posting schedules.

What's the difference with a taxi or ride-hail service?+

CatDrive is peer-to-peer carpooling, not professional transport. Drivers share a trip they're already making — they are not professional chauffeurs. Prices cover cost-sharing, not a commercial service.

In which areas is the service available?+

CatDrive launches in Algeria first (as Twassalni) and expands to other markets. You can post or search for a ride between any cities or neighborhoods in the supported regions.

Passengers

How do I book a ride?+
  1. Create an account (phone number or email)
  2. Search for a ride by entering origin, destination, and date
  3. Review the details (price, time, driver) and send a request
  4. Wait for the driver's confirmation
Can I cancel a booking?+

Yes, you can cancel a booking at any time before departure. We ask you to notify the driver as early as possible out of courtesy so they can offer the seat to another passenger.

How do I contact the driver?+

After your booking is accepted, you can contact the driver via the built-in chat or by phone (available 30 minutes before departure). A WhatsApp button is also available on the ride page.

How are prices set?+

Prices are set freely by drivers. The displayed amount is the price per seat. You see the total price before booking — no hidden fees, no surge pricing.

How is payment handled?+

Payment is made directly between passenger and driver, usually in cash at the time of the ride. The platform does not collect payment on behalf of drivers.

Can I travel without an account?+

You can browse available rides without an account, but you need to create one to book or contact a driver.

Drivers

How do I become a driver?+
  1. Create an account and go to "Become a driver"
  2. Submit your driving license (front/back)
  3. Our team verifies your documents (usually within 24 to 48 hours)
  4. Once approved, you can post your first rides
What documents are required?+
  • Valid driving license (front and back)

All documents must be current. Photos must be legible and uncropped.

Is there a commission?+

Yes, the platform takes a 10% commission on every completed ride. Passengers pay you in cash directly, and the 10% commission accumulates as a balance you owe in your wallet. You settle this balance by bank transfer (wallet top-up).

How does the wallet work?+

The wallet tracks the 10% commission you owe the platform after each ride. Passenger payments are made in cash, directly between you and the passenger. You can view your full transaction history and settle your balance at any time.

How do I top up my wallet?+

You can top up your wallet by bank transfer. Submit your transfer proof on the platform — an admin will verify and credit your account.

Can I set my own price?+

Yes, you freely set the price per seat for each ride. You also choose the number of seats available, departure time, and pickup point.

Can I decline or cancel a booking?+

Yes. As a driver, you can accept or decline any booking request. You can also cancel a seat that's already booked in case of an emergency — notify the passenger as soon as possible via chat or phone. If no booking is active, you can also cancel the entire ride.

Safety & Trust

How is safety ensured?+
  • Drivers submit identity and vehicle documents, verified by our team
  • Each user has a profile with photo and verified phone number
  • A review system lets drivers and passengers rate each other after every ride
  • Reported accounts are reviewed and can be suspended
How do I report a problem?+

If you run into a problem (inappropriate behavior, ride not as described, etc.), contact us via the Help & Support page. We'll review your report and take appropriate action (warning, suspension, or account termination).

Is my personal data protected?+

Yes. We comply with the applicable data protection law (Law No. 18-07 of 10 June 2018 in Algeria). Your data is used only within the scope of the service. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

I left something in the vehicle — what should I do?+

Contact the driver directly via the platform's chat or by phone. If you can't reach them, contact our support and we'll try to help facilitate the return.

My account

How do I create an account?+

You can sign up with your phone number (SMS OTP) or your email address (magic link). No password is required.

Can I update my information?+

Yes, you can update your name, profile photo, and contact details from the Profile page. Changes are saved automatically.

How do I delete my account?+

Contact us via the Help & Support page to request account deletion. You have the right to request deletion of your personal data under applicable data protection law.

I'm not receiving the OTP code — what should I do?+

Check that your phone number is correct and that your device can receive SMS. If the problem persists, try the email login (magic link) or contact support.

Legal

Is CatDrive legal?+

Peer-to-peer carpooling (transport cost-sharing) is a legal practice. CatDrive is an intermediary platform that facilitates connections — we do not provide professional transport services.

Which law governs the platform?+

The platform is governed by Algerian law for the initial launch (Twassalni), notably Law No. 18-07 of 10 June 2018 on personal data protection. For full conditions, see our Terms of Service.

Who is liable in case of an accident?+

CatDrive is a connection platform and is not liable for accidents occurring during rides. Liability rests with the driver under common law and their vehicle insurance. We encourage all drivers to maintain valid insurance and all passengers to wear seatbelts.

How are disputes resolved?+

Disputes between users can be reported via the platform. We'll review the situation and may take action (warning, suspension). Our intervention is provided free of charge and does not constitute binding arbitration. Unresolved disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the applicable courts.
